MVL Consulting conducts an International Seminar on Risk Based Supervision and Risk Based Internal Audit


Pune, India February 16, 2004--The Seminar provided the participants with an in-sight to the complexities of credit risk, market risk and operational risk management systems and strategies for setting up internal models on risk measurement. The seminar also dealt with the modalities for evaluation of internal control, COSO model of internal control framework and methodology for switch over to risk based internal audit system. Techniques of Risk Profiling, Compilation of ARF templates were discussed in detail. The participants had deliberations on Basel 2 implementation issues and formulation of recommendations towards a smooth transition process.

The seminar also reviewed key topics that concern bank supervisors and regulators of financial information, and provided an update on the latest developments in the drive towards implementation of international standard risk management practices.

Directors and Senior Executives from large commercial banks in India including State Bank of India, Bank of India, Dena Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Rajastan Ltd., The United Western Bank Ltd. etc. and banks from Sri Lanka and Africa and regulatory authorities in some countries such as Bank of Tanzania participated in the Seminar.

Mr. Ludger Chingwile, Director of Internal Audit, Bank of Tanzania (rgulator in Tanzania) also participated in the Seminar.

Besides banking supervision stalwart Mr. Amalendu Ghosh, Former CGM of DBOD and Former Head of Project Implementation Group, Risk Based Supervision of Reserve Bank of India, the seminar was also addressed by eminent speakers : - Mr. M. V. Lonkar, Chartered Accountant, Mr. S. N. Sawaikar, Former Deputy Managing Director of State Bank of India, and Mr. S. R. Mittal, Former CGM of Department of Information Technology of the Reserve Bank of India and Former Member Secretary of RBI Committee on Internet Banking.
